Therefore, a person who is concerned with or social media privacy is a very smart person. Protecting the identity of a user should be the number one concern of the social networking platform. However, most of social networking platforms have to use the information to make money because there is no other way for them to monetize their products and services. This means that the onus of privacy is put onto the user themselves. A smart user logs into all the fine print that a social networking platform provides a makes an informed decision on whether or not to use that platform in the future.

There are several cases being litigated right now that have social media information at the core of the lawsuit. These cases include situations where the social media information was used to disqualify a candidate from getting a job or firing a candidate from the job they had already.
